Nitin Khosla of Golmuri Club, Jamshedpur emerged champion in the 5th Nalco East Zone Golf Tournament, which concluded here at Bhubaneswar Golf Club (BGC) course, Chandrasekharpur today.
Khosla won the title in the main (0 to 18 handicap) category with a nett score of 69. S K Lall of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Sambalpur, finished runner-up, scoring 74. S N Mahto (Cockarel Golf Club, Ranchi) bagged the best gross trophy with a gross score of 83.
Host BGC golfers claimed the top two places in the 19 to 24 handicap category with Tapan Mohanty (74) and Bhupinder Singh (77) emerging winner and runner-up respectively.
The top honour in the seniors` category went to J P Panda (BGC), who returned with a nett score of 78, four less than runner-up Ramesh Ray (Rites Golf Club). Rajiv Ray (Rites GC) secured the prize for the longest drive (261 yards), while the closest-to-the-pin (18 feet, 3 inches) award was claimed by S K Lall (MCL). Sumit Mahto (Cockarel) was awarded as the best outstation golfer.
Cockarel Golf Club won the team championship with a total score of 232, while MCL (235) finished runnersup. Tourism Minister Surya Narayan Patro and Nalco Director B L Bagra presented the trophies at the closing function.
